HOW TO … Habit Stack

Been trying to get more out of your day? You need to habit stack!

Never heard of it? Basically, habit stacking is when you identify a current habit you already do each day and then stack your new behaviour on top.

For example, your morning routine might go: get out of bed > have shower > eat breakfast > go to work.

Buuuttt you’ve been wanting to meditate more often, so you change it to: get out of bed > 3 minute meditation > have shower > eat breakfast > go to work.

The idea is that by linking a new habit to an existing habit, you’ll be more likely to stick to it. And once you master your new habit, you can add more: get out of bed > 60 second meditation > have shower > eat breakfast > write today’s ‘to do’ list > go to work

We’ve added a quick 25 minute HIIT session every morning before the kids get up and it makes a massive difference to our productivity. During daylight saving hours, we also habit stack a quick surf into our morning routine!
